Unjust William

William Shakespeare is often known as the ‘Bard of Avon’, many believe this monicker comes from the region he was born. It’s in fact because prior to writing sonnets and historically acclaimed plays, he sold cosmetics and toiletries door to door in Southwark.

At the age of 21 he was given his first break when the company he worked for discovered his abilities to write compelling advertising sonnets and his ‘Thou Smell of Eau de Sandalwood, Is That Avon?’ catapulted him to the mainstream.
